What is Pushtifly
The basics to understand how Pushtifly sends push notifications to Android and iOS.
Pushtifly is a push notification service for Android and iOS apps. Your app registers each device and your system (or your team, from the panel) sends notifications. Pushtifly delivers them to Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) and Apple (APNs), with retries, scheduling, segmentation, media and analytics.
Pushtifly works with any framework: Android, iOS, Ionic/Capacitor, Cordova, Flutter, React Native, Expo, .NET MAUI, Unity or any app that obtains an FCM or APNs token.
How it works
- Your app asks the user for permission and gets the device's push token, using your framework's usual library (Firebase or Apple's).
- Your app registers the device in Pushtifly with its public key (
pk_):POST /v1/devices. - Your backend sends with its secret key (
sk_),POST /v1/notifications, or your team does it from the Customer Panel. - Pushtifly delivers to FCM and APNs with the credentials you uploaded, and reports the result (sent, accepted, failed, invalid token).
- Your app reports delivery, opens and clicks (
POST /v1/events), and you see the analytics in the panel.
Concepts
| Concept | What it is |
|---|---|
| Company | Your workspace. It has a plan, a team, billing and one or more apps. |
| App | A mobile application (it can have Android and iOS). Each app has its own credentials, devices, topics and templates. |
| Credential | What authorizes Pushtifly to send to your app: the Firebase service account (Android, and also iOS via FCM) or Apple's .p8 key / .p12 certificate. They are stored encrypted and never shown again. |
| Device | A phone with your app installed, identified by its token. You can link it to your user (externalUserId), tag it (tags) and subscribe it to topics. |
| Topic | A subject devices subscribe to, for example offers, which receives sends to all its subscribers. |
| Segment | A saved filter: language, country, platform, version, tags, last activity, etc. |
| Template | Reusable content with {{name}} variables. |
| Notification | A send to a target: devices, users, topic, segment or everyone. It can be immediate, scheduled or at each device's local time. |
| Campaign | A recurring send (daily, weekly, monthly). |
| Keys | pk_ (public: lives inside the app and only registers devices and events) and sk_ (secret: only on your server; sends and queries). Each one in test or live mode. |
| iOS environment | sandbox (apps installed from Xcode) or production (TestFlight and App Store). Pushtifly detects and corrects it automatically. |
