Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about Pushtifly.
Does Pushtifly guarantee delivery?
No push service can guarantee it. Google and Apple decide the final delivery based on the phone's state: battery saver, Do Not Disturb, the user's permission or the phone being off for longer than the TTL. Pushtifly retries, separates what the provider accepted from what the app received (with events) and shows you the reason for each failure.
Do I need Firebase?
- Android: yes, FCM is always used.
- iOS: not necessarily. You can send directly to Apple with a
.p8, or via Firebase if your library delivers FCM tokens.
Can I use the same Firebase project for several apps?
Yes. Upload the service account in each Pushtifly app that uses it.
What happens to the tokens of users who uninstalled the app?
Google and Apple reject them. Pushtifly marks the device as invalid, stops sending to it and notifies you with the device.invalidated webhook.
Can I send from the browser or from the app?
Sends require the secret key, which must never be in an app or a browser. Send from your server, or from the panel.
Does a notification to a test device count as a send?
Sends from the test console don't use quota. Normal sends to test devices do count.
Where is my data?
